Presidential Campaign Report

Project Outline

Part 1. Background

For your project, you have chosen one of the candidates for President. Your task will be to research and present the following information. How old is your candidate, what is his/her current job, what (if any) political offices has he/she held previously, where is his/her home, why does he/she want to be the President? You may add any other information that you feel is important.

Part 2. Campaign Issues

As part of your research, you will have to research your candidate’s position on the critical issues facing the nation. Prepare a report or list of those issues and how your candidate proposes to address them.

Part 3. Progress of the Campaign

For Democratic and Republican candidates, follow and report on their successes or failures in the primaries and caucuses. Watch for television advertisements pay attention to endorsements by national organizations or national figures, read newspaper or magazine articles, collect political cartoons, collect campaign literature or follow national polls. All of this information will be valuable as you try to determine your candidate’s chances of getting elected. Do you see a particular personality or character trait that is helping or hurting your candidate’s chances of getting elected?

Part 4. Presentation

You will be expected to prepare a written summary of all of the information requested above, more importantly, you will have to develop and design a presentation for the class. It could take almost any form you choose as long as it gets the information across to the class.
